Investment Management

Choosing Your Investment Advisor | Investment Philosophy | Investment Process

Our philosophy of investment management is simple - asset allocation. Through visits, questionnaires, and other aids, we help the client determine their risk tolerance. Then, we try to establish their time horizon and liquidity needs. This results in creating a balanced investment portfolio, allocated among the various asset classes to insure diversification against volatility risk, that can provide the potential for long-term appreciation.

The asset allocation decision is one of the most important decisions to be made. While many people tend to think of security selection or market timing as the keys to investing, these factors are only important when combined with a strategic asset allocation policy.

Studies have found that the asset allocation decision accounts for over 90% of the differences among the returns of selected pension funds. This is why we focus so closely on this decision.

As you can see, our portfolio invests in both "growth" and "value" style equities. We use this multiple style approach because there is ample evidence to show that risk can be reduced, without sacrificing returns, by having exposure to different types of investment styles.

We diversify the portfolio further by assuring that the equities we use are a sensible mix of large, mid and small cap companies, as well as international companies. Not only does investing internationally reduce risk over time in a diversified portfolio, in today's global economy it is just common sense. And, we continually monitor the allocation of the portfolio and rebalance when necessary.

It is our commitment to bring to our clients the ongoing, continuous service that builds long-term relationships and family wealth.
